Papangu de Bezerros

A character of Pernambuco’s Carnival. People go out in masks made of papier maché and a long dress, or tunic, that covers the whole body. They go out during carnival, dancing and doing harmless mischief (usually to their friends), trying not to be recognized. Bezerros, the city where the artist is based, is known for its Papangus all over the State, being called “The Land of the Papangu”.
